Although Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell tweeted that last night’s show at the L.A.’s Bardot would only be a short and sweet 5-song set, the alternative rock titans entertained its intimate crowd with eight tunes, including set finisher “Ocean Size.” (Spin has a great photo of Fender’s signature bassist Duff McKagan’s debut with the band here.) Janesaddiction.org provided the set list, as well the video below of set opener “Stop!” 1. Stop! 2. Mountain Song 3. Had a Dad 4. Another Soul Mate 5. Whores 6. Pigs in Zen 7. Ain’t No Right 8. McKagan Set for Live Debut with Jane’s Addiction
Photo courtesy of Scott Uchida Although Fender’s signature bassist Duff McKagan publically appeared with Jane’s Addiction at Perry Farrell’s 51st birthday bash in late March, tomorrow’s Cinco de Mayo show at Bardot (1737 Vine St.) in Hollywood, Calif., will be his first official live performance with the band. According to Farrell’s twitter page, Jane’s will play only a 5-song set, so don’t be late! In fact, be super early. Only the first 100 fans in line will be allowed entrance.

Fender bassist Eric Avery has quit Jane’s Addiction, announcing his departure via Twitter early Monday morning after the band wrapped its world tour in Australia. “That’s it. With equal parts regret and relief, the Jane’s Addiction experiment is at an end,” tweeted Avery. Avery co-founded the band in 1985, and then rejoined the group in 2008 for their first reunion since splitting in 1991. I spoke to Avery back at the 2010 Fender Showcase in January, asking him how the 2009 world tour had gone. “It was interesting––it was a lot of things. We are sort of a pretty fked up family. It’s true, and our particular brand of fed up-ness is pretty well documented, but the shows were great. They were really great. There was a really great response and energy to it and playing with Nails (NIN) was really great, too. “As long as we can stand each other, that’s (keep playing) what we’re doing,” he said. “So far, so good.” I guess the good ran out. Former Guns & Roses Duff McKagan is rumored to be his replacement.
